What do I bring as an offering to Him?
“When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the LORD. 14 “Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,” says the LORD Almighty, “and my name is to be feared among the nations.” Malachi 1:13, 14
There are no animals to bring anymore, but we owe him the best of our offerings and sacrifice all the same. Where are you today? What has the Lord given you to do?
Will you do it “as to the Lord”, and bring Him the best you have to offer? Or will you offer the “lame and sick”, go through the motions, and insult His position as Great King?
Not everyone could bring the same animal. Some brought lambs and goats, but others couldn’t afford such expensive animals…they may have only been able to bring birds; it wasn’t about the value of the offering, but that whatever you did have to bring, it was your best.
I am a wife and mother and this is my service to the Lord right now. It’s tempting to offer a “blemished sacrifice”. But if I remember to Whom it is I offer my life each day, perhaps I can meet my work with new zeal and enthusiasm.
Sacrifice was bloody, messy work. Sometimes our work is too. May we bring our best.

I have seen/heard some saddening comments lately by mothers about their own kids. It has been heavy on my heart. THis morning, as I was thinking, I believe Holy Spirit downloaded this thought: “Do we despise, feel burdened by, resent, get exasperated by any of God’s other gifts?” If God blesses me with this beautiful house, do I treat it as a burden? HOw about my husband’s job, which allows us to live nicely and still give a lot? Is that money despised? WHat about God’s constant presence? Too overwhelming? Would we ever say such ridiculous things about these gifts? NO! Then why do these things sometimes fly out of our lips? (Guilty of this too). That my own plank would be removed so I would have something wise to say to those with a splinter…
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke 12:48
I love these points and think of them often.

And as mothers, we set the standard for our children. Our influence is constant. They know when we are tired or troubled and in those times do they see us compromising, or do they see us giving the extra effort in spite of increased difficulty. We can’t ask more of them than we are willing to give of ourselves.
