Hello!

I’m Kelly and I’m glad you’re here. I’m a wife and mom, just like you. I get it. I know how hard the days can be, and how you might feel like you’re spinning your wheels or that no one sees or appreciates your work.

You have just found an oasis!

I believe so much in the importance of motherhood and family, that I’ve written here for 17 years about it. What you need is some encouragement and a reminder that you aren’t just cleaning a house and feeding hungry people.

You are building the next generation and that’s no small thing!

We are a very normal family (who happens to have 11 kids) with ups and downs, tears and laughter. Most days are busy wonderful, others, not so much, but all of them a gift of grace by Him who delights in giving good gifts to His children.

We believe the Lord wants to raise up strong families in the face of discouraging times…families who will bring Him glory.

Why the name “Generation Cedar”? “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” Psalm 92:12 Every generation is known and named for something. We’ve got the “Baby Boomer” Generation, Generation X, Y and Z.  Generation Cedar is so named because we desire to encourage families to raise the next generation for the glory of God–firmly planted and flourishing “like a cedar in Lebanon.”

My prayer is that you will find a refuge here; we have a strong community of like-minded friends and we would love for you to join us!

The Day Our World Turned Upside Down

If you’d like, you can follow our “journey through the storm”, our family’s story of losing all our earthly possessions in 2011, when an F-5 tornado completely devastated our community, leveling our farm, house, vehicles, trees as well as my childhood home where my parents lived next door.  I will continue to tell of  God’s faithfulness and pray it is a tremendous encouragement to others!

And finally, follow me on Instagram or Facebook for daily encouragement!

Oh my! I somehow found one of your videos on YouTube, and after watching every other one, found my way here! You are amazingly beautiful, and I am reading this site as if it were clean air – I can’t take in enough fast enough! I didn’t know there was someone who believes as I do about so many important life issues. I feel so validated, and so unalone! I just had my 6th child, and I immediately saw a few our amusing similiarities. I have 5 girls & 1 boy now, and my 8 yr old’s name is Brynna, and my Ellie is 3. I thank you for sharing so much of yourself and family. The encouragement I have already found in you is beyond words. Thank you, thank you!

Kelly,

It was a pleasure to meet you and your family last week at the beach. My boys are still talking about Ashton. Just wanted to say that you have a lovely family and are truly blessed. Enjoying your blog too.

Danielle,

Oh, the same here! Wish we had had more time to talk…Ashton also really enjoyed the “nice boys that didn’t use crude language” LOL!

Let It Be Enough – Lass es genug sein | Conversatio in Caelis October 23, 2010 - 1:32 pm

Kelly,

A friend of mine recommended your blog to me a few months ago and I am so glad she did! The gift that God has given you in your writing and in your wisdom blesses, encourages, and convicts me. I pass along your blog every chance I get; I believe the things you write here are like water to a parched tongue. I thank the Lord for you and what He is doing through you.

Warmly,
Jocelyn

I just came across your website and can’t express how appreciative I am for you! I am a school counselor at a primary school of over 750 students. I gave my heart to the Lord at the tender age of seven and now God has placed me right in the middle of over 200 seven-year-olds. As you well know, the need is great. The lack of parenting skills is prevelent and the children are suffering for it. Please say a prayer as I attempt to minister in a secular setting (The Great Commission). I will pray that God will bless you and that this site will reach the masses.

I absolutely love your blog. I love that you speak about the Lord and your family so lovingly. I put you in my blogroll because I want others to find your wonderful site.

Just want to add, my sister and her daughter lived in Joplin and suffered losses in that tornado this year. Shelly and her son were “IN” the tornado. Lisa and Shelly lost their daycare business. The building was wiped clean away, not a shred left on the foundation. They are starting their lives over. The blessing is that God protected Shelly and her son. They weren’t hurt at all and we know it was totally God who saved them.

Karen,

I’m so glad your family was safe! May the Lord bless the rebuilding of their lives.

Hi, I appreciate your website and the encouragement and ideas in it. What state do you live in? We are looking for homeschoolers in the eastern part of NC that are trying to live a committed life pleasing to the Lord. We are looking for like minded people in our area. Do you have any ideas where homeschool families can find eachother, any websites? Thank you, Carmen

This is such an encouragement! You have such a beautiful family, and so many wonderfully Biblical things to say! As a 23-year-old wife and (soon-to-be) mother, I truly have been feeling SO alone in my convictions! My sister has three daughters and intends to homeschool them, but anyone other than my side of the family are so discouraging! I’ve been so concerned to raise children in this society, and it’s amazing to read so many comments of other women who agree with true Biblical Womanhood and education! My husband and I are in the process of adopting through foster care and therefore will likely get school-age children. We still intend to homeschool as soon as legally possible, but have been very fearful until now that I have seen so many encouraging words! THANK YOU!!!!!

After years of city life, the Lord led our family to a small town in India and 2 years past, we are enjoying serving Jesus in this place. As we started our work here, the Lord strongly led us into family ministry esp with the vision of raising powerful n unmatched ‘generation to come’. The Lord has been giving word after word, we are passing it into 30-40 families. GenerationCedar, ur site is special and precious to us. May the Lord use you all in a new way in these last days.
Luv u guys

I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one these days.
