We’ve Become Dogs

by Kelly Crawford

The following excerpt is from one of the most concise, simply articulated articles I’ve read about the election. This is IT in a nutshell. (Thanks Gina!)

The article is not all depressing; there is hope if people understand the times and are willing to rally up their ancestors’ tenacity. Be sure to read the rest from the link.

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship….

I will tell you how and why we have come to the brink of socialism in this country: education. Our public schools, with the blessings of government officials, have been droning on about the evils of capitalism and the superiority of socialism for decades. The media echo this chant, so children have grown into adults knowing no other philosophy. Capitalism is bad. Socialism is good. Woof woof.

The fact of human nature is people are lazy. If you take away the incentive to achieve anything because you’re providing it for “free,” watch how they fall into an indifferent, drone-like status quo. People will come to expect everything to be handed to them on a government platter. Woof wo … er, you know the rest.”

Sit. Stay. Roll over. Beg.

Interesting topic. Hubby and I have had many discussions about this recently. Last night we watched “Expelled”, just another documentary that shows how much government is infringing on our rights.

I have to laugh at those who say they are for smaller government yet do everything the government “mandates” them to do. I am beginning to find it absurd that people actually think we still live in a free country.

Hm. I would definitely agree that our public education system has gone a long way to promote the degradation of our society.

But the socialistic propaganda wouldn’t have gotten this far if it didn’t appeal to basic human (sin) nature in the first place. Greed, envy, get something for nothing, be your own god–the idea of entitlement because “hey, you are WORTH it”

I find it interesting that so many Americans do not seem to be aware that the United States was not set up as a democracy (direct rule by the people)…but rather a democratic republic (rule by a few who represent the will of the people). There is a difference and those who wish to restore our country’s greatness would do well to make the distinction.

I admit I haven’t read your link, yet so perhaps the author of the article addresses my concern…

Okay, I read the article. Definitely sobering–but with a slim ray of hope. Perhaps our citizens are not too far gone to be jarred awake by McObama being in the driver’s seat.

I feel encouraged to have read the following quote, because I have said pretty much the same thing for many years now.

“The ironic thing is I’m not so certain that McCain’s march toward socialism will be much different than Obama’s. Republicans traditionally take a slower road toward bigger government than Democrats, but it’s still the same road.”

It’s a main reason I hate anything political and have a heavy feeling every election year. The front running options never seem good to me and until this year always ended up voting the “lesser of two evils” because I had hoped that it would at least SLOW the inevitable. (I’ve had this theory that Republican and Democrat politicians are all really on the same side and have made the people their enemies to be conquered–they just keep “passing” power back and forth to keep us from catching on before they have a chance to yank the rug out from under us) Perhaps, though, if more people see the problem and vote based on conscience rather than simply between the two most obvious options, then this Titanic of a country has a chance at staying afloat a little longer.

Maybe

Heather,

I’ve just this election realized the truth of “your theory”, which I don’t think is a theory…in fact, I just read this brilliant article, confirming the same thoughts…Heavy stuff.

“While ultimately this unprecedented totalitarian State is an international-united-states, domestically it is the United States of America and is represented by the Republican-Democratic political axis.

These political parties are but two sides of the same ticket; a tag team that take turns every four or eight years beating up on the hapless American populace who nonetheless continue to cheer them on with “USA, USA” thinking these parties are actually wrestling each other. Yes, the Democrats and Republicans are two sides to the same ticket: and that ticket is a one-way ticket to fascism. It is the ticket to the attempted destruction of any remnant of authentic Christianity and a ticket to the reign of an antichrist, if not the antichrist. Supporting this regime, this Republican-Democratic axis of evil, is not pro-life; it is pro-death, both physically and spiritually. It will not end abortion, but quite the contrary, it will metastasize the culture of death, killing the bodies of its opponents and the souls of its proponents.”

This is a huge elephant of a problem. And we grope around it looking at first one aspect and then another, blame goes here and blame goes there. Truthfully – you could write dozens of huge thick volumes on why people do what they do or think what they think. And just when you think you have it all figured out – someone goes and throws a new angle into it.

Reminds me of the poem about the blind men who went to see an elephant and each had hold of a differnt part, and each was sure that they had a good idea what the elephant looked like.

I do happen to agree with the article. I’ve even pointed to it and this one from my own blog.

I love reading this blog!

Romans 1:21 – …

because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Professing to be wise, they became fools.

and changed the glory of God into an image made like corruptible man – and birds and four footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

Likewise, also men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which is due.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do thos things which are not fitting.

Look it up, we are there. We are so far from the truth in the United States. The Lord cannot continue to “bless” a nation, that does not honor Him.

We need to repent, pray, confess, and turn our hearts and families back to the Lord.

Kelly, I enjoyed the article and found it right on the mark. And I had always thought that the republicans and democrats, take turns, but are really working together. I thought everyone else knew it too. I think this election is just more proof of it. Both canidates are so close in their platforms that there is VERY little difference.
I live in Pennsylvania and every conservative here has been saying for months that Obama is the fast boat to socialism and McCain is the slow boat to socialism.
