Personal Picture Fun

by Kelly Crawford
I thought it might be fun to interject some pics today…we are so truly overwhelmed and blessed with God’s goodness to us, I just wanted to praise Him publically.

Our new home!

Without going into boring and irrelevant detail, the Lord provided us the opportunity to move out of our little (albeit cozy!) house, and into a much larger, beautiful house. Not only is it a great house for our growing family, but it has built onto the end of it (the right side in the picture) a dining facility built to seat about 100 people–a feature we are hoping to use as a family business and ministry! (Not to mention, by the time I’m a grandmother, we will need the seating capacity to hold our family for Sunday dinner!)

We are still moving and finishing, so it’s not complete…

Under the apex in the living room, I had envisioned this for a long time. Vinyl lettering looks much better than my first idea to hand-paint it myself! (Sometimes my ideas are much more lofty than my abilities 🙂

Cute picture of baby Kyla!

A work in progress…this is our bedroom. I took an old dresser that needed “something”, and gave my 6 and 8 year old a bucket of paint, brushes, and some paper towels and said “have at it”. The results, were, well, interesting at least. But I kind of like it! Some people pay a lot of money for furniture that looks like this!

This is the center of most of our activity…cozy and warm. There’s another living area on the other side where our piano is and our family library will be soon…(I hope!)

An old fence panel we had in our yard adorns our dining room.

Three of the girls share this room…they’ve enjoyed making it pretty!

This is half of our laundry room–thank God for cubbies! There are even more underneath the shade and on the other side of the room. Still haven’t found the right containers to keep everyone’s laundry orderly, but when I do, watch out!

Our only attempt at a “hurry and take it” Christmas picture (thank you Evan!) The lighting was the pits, so I think it turned out well considering. Although I didn’t actually make it to the Christmas card stage 🙂

This is the dining room–“The Cedar House” is what we’ll call it, as the walls are natural, cedar planks half way up. A great place for a party!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Wow! What a beautiful home! Do I remember you saying in a post a while ago that it used to be your parent’s house?

As a soon to be mother of 7 I’m curious what your square footage was before and what it is now. Not counting the large dining room of course! ” ) We have about 1700 square feet and are hoping to get a bit bigger house when we move but we don’t want it too big.
Just curious!

Thanks for the picks…your hard work over the last few weeks have paid off!

Hugs,
Carmen

P.S. Don’t worry about not getting cards out…I sent some after Christmas!!

P.P.S. Where did the lettering on the wall come from? I just love the look of it…thought of hand painting it myself but it would be waaaayyy too much stress!

And…heard your music on Amy’s blog and I just loved it. I didn’t know it was you until the end. While it was playing I was thinking…wow, that is beautiful, I wonder who it is. I must get a cd when I have the extra cash!

Hugs,
Carmen

Thanks Carmen!

We moved from a 1700 square feet mobile home to a 4,500 sq. feet house! (Not counting the dining room, which is another 2,000!)

(It was already built, so it’s a bit bigger than we probably would have built from scratch.)

It was a house that my parents originally started building for the boys they take care of through their ministry. The house was never finished, and they decided it would be best to sell it. Hating to see it “leave the family” (my parents’ house is just down our driveway), we all prayed about it and decided it would be a great fit for our family. (It had sat unfinished and vacant for 10 years!)

So, we have arrannged to “rent to own” for a while and then purchase the house once we get “The Cedar House” going full swing. That’s the story in a nutshell!

Carmen,

I forgot about your other question…I found a company on ebay that customizes vinyl lettering. Just do a search for vinyl lettering and there are a bunch of them!

Kelly,

Your place is so beautiful!! Thanks so much for letting us visit with you last night. Your kids are wonderful. Heather was so upset that we had seen them and she wasn’t with us. We will have to get together sometime. Thanks for your friendship.

Love,
Rhonda

That is LOVELY! Thank you for sharing all of that with us. I need to take pictures of my new place, too. You’re inspiring!
I love that giant dining room. It is amazing. And, oddly enough, you and I used gold to put forth the same verse in our new homes. I will have to get that into my blog soon. 🙂
God is an AWESOME God!!

Kelly, that house is an amazing blessing. I must say that you must have strangely docile children to be able to have all those knick-knacks around. Everything in our house pretty much has to be bolted down and tackle-proof.

It really is a beautiful place – thanks for “inviting us in!”

What exactly are you plans for The Cedar House? A restaurant?

Your new home is beautiful, what a blessing! I love the vinyl lettering too, I’ll have to look into that!

I, too, am wondering about the Cedar House – what the plans are.
Such a BEAUTIFUL picture of your whole family! I love the black and white.

Plans for the Cedar House are multi-pronged. After landscaping the front with a court-yard appeal, we will advertise to rent it out for wedding receptions, reunions, banquets, etc.

Then, we are discussing plans to have a “dinner by reservation” one night a month. (My mother caters, as does many of our friends.) It would be a specialty/gourmet type meal complete with desserts and coffee, the right atmosphere, maybe some live, classical music, and so on.

The second part of our plan will take some fine tuning to make it work, but in the mean time we will be focusing on the rental business.

That sounds like a really great plan! I hope it works out well for you. It is certainly the perfect atmosphere!

Congratulations on the new house. It looks wonderful. I think the kids did a great job on the dresser. People do pay a small fortune for that distressed painted look.
God Bless

The house is great!! Thanks so much for sharing the pics with us. I ALMOST didn’t look at the pics, so the anticipation of seeing the house in person would continue to grow. However, you KNOW that I’m not very good with temptation! LOL We will look forward to seeing you, your precious family AND your house soon! Love, Susan
