Pictorial Praise

by Kelly Crawford

“Much of our difficulty as seeking Christians stems from our unwillingness to take God as He is and adjust our lives accordingly. We insist upon trying to modify Him and to bring Him nearer to our own image. The flesh whimpers against the rigor of God’s inexorable sentence and begs for a little mercy, a little indulgence of its carnal ways.

It is no use. We can get a right start only by accepting God as He is and learning to love Him for what He is. As we go on to know Him better we shall find it a source of unspeakable joy that God is just what He is. Some of the most rapturous moments we know will be those we spend in reverent admiration of the Godhead. In those holy moments, the very thought of change in Him will be too painful to endure.”

A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God

“Unto to You, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.”

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.”

1 Corinthians 16:13

“O Lord, our God, our homes are thine forever! We trust to thee their problems, toil, and care; their bonds of love no enemy can sever, if thou art always Lord and Master there: be thou the center of our least endeavor–be thou our guest, our hearts and homes to share.”

Barbara Hart, “A Christian Home”

“Teach us, Lord, to teach your child; guide us as we guide. Lead this little one to know you, send your Spirit’s dove.”

Edmund Clowney,
“In Your Arms, Lord Jesus Christ”

“He leads me beside the still waters…”

Psalm 23:2

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”

*All photographs (including the new signature) were taken by my daughter Bria, except the one of our house, taken by Evan Travers.

A few interesting notes about the pictures:

The picture of the open field is the view from my kitchen window. On the few, rare occasions that I’m actually awake as the sun is coming up, the display is breathtaking. I cannot gaze upon it that the world doesn’t seem to stop for a moment, and declare to me again the proof of my finiteness and God’s holiness.

The lone tree is the view from my front porch…again, something about the morning, when the heavy dew has enshrouded it, speaks of God’s constant, ever-watchful care over His creation, and breathes of His very presence in it.

Yes, that’s laundry hanging in the background behind Kyla. My oldest daughter is a hopeless romantic, and finds hanging laundry in the woods to have, in the words of Anne of GG, “so much more scope for the imagination”. She actually hangs all our laundry there, which other than the occasional leaf in my pj’s doesn’t bother me.” 😉

Beautiful!

Ouch! That pretty much describes me lately. 🙁

Okay, I have to admit I’m a bit envious of the beauty that surrounds your home! I hope someday we’ll have views like that rather than all this concrete 🙂

Meghann,

Well, you know a camera, good light and just the right angle can go a long way 😉

But we are blessed to live in a very serene place in the country we call “The Valley”.

What beautiful pictures… your daughter is gifted with the camera!

Do you live in a “vintage” home or did you build it new and give it a “vintage” look. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks lovely! 🙂

Loved the pictures and quotes! Beautiful… I like, Meghann, am longing for fields and woods.

I have a lot of catching up to do!!! I am behind on blog-reading! We started home-school last week. Loving it, but very busy.

teacherbritt,

It was built (15 years ago, but not lived in until now!) with a rustic look–cedar siding and a tin roof.

It was refreshing to read this post, considering the posts recently on this blog site have been about politics of some sort. It was nice just to view the beautiful pictures, and revel in the godly words next to the pictures.

BTW, your daughter did a lovely job with the pictures. She certainly has a gift. I agree with Meghann, I was a bit “jealous” of the beauty that surrounds your home. Our houses (where I live) are SO close together it’s ridiculous! How blessed you truly are to live in a place surrounded by beauty!

I just stumbled across you're site looking for people discussing Obama and his 0-5 edu. plan aka "junk".

I officially love you! and will keep exploring your site. I love what I have seen so far.

I'm a 24 yr old wife and mother of two(ages 2 & 5). It wasn't until I had my first child that a I realised just how tradition, conservative, and faithful I am. Mind you I was only 19, but it has truly been an awakening.

I didn't know where to put this comment but I had to express my appreciation for you.
