Today was our 11th wedding anniversary…boy time does fly! It’s timely that the Lord has been dealing so much with me lately about my role as a wife and the deep need to nurture our marriage. Great marriages don’t just happen! They take work. And I would dare say that a marriage not invested in will likely not last, or at least be a sad place to be.
Nurture it…grow it…it’s often just the little things.
A smile…
A sincere “thank you” for things we take for granted.
A refrain from complaining about the broken doorknob, replaced with words of thanksgiving for the warm home we have.
An unexpected hug or show of affection.
A little time invested in a meal.
Attention given to create peace and beauty in the home.
It’s worth all those things.
One of my favorite quotes about marriage (and I’m not even sure who said it) is:
“Marriage is not to make me happy; it’s to make me holy.”
I have such a long way to go! You’d think eleven years would be long enough to figure it out and yet I feel I’m only just beginning to get it! “Thank you, Lord, for a patient husband!”
Aaron is truly the most long-suffering man I know, and I am constantly amazed as he demonstrates God’s grace to me through his own.
Thank you, honey, and happy anniversary!
(Our daughter sent us to a local bed and breakfast where my favorite thing was an instant coffee/cappuchino/hot chocolate-by-the-cup machine that didn’t even require you to open the pack of coffee! Pick your flavor, snap it in, and presto. I know, I don’t get out much, but how fun when I do! It was one of those moments similar to the first time I washed my hands in a public bath with a sensor 😉

Hey Kelly, Happy Anniversary! I hope you both have had a great day. My sister and sis-in-law have one of those fancy coffee maker thingys! 😉 Love, Susan
Beautiful pictures!!! Happy Anniversary!!!
Love & Blessings,
Nan
Wow…you seriously look just like you did 11 years ago! Happy Anniversary!! 🙂 You are so right, investing in the little things (and the big) is so essential to keeping a marriage healthy. If we’re not working on our marriages, we’re letting them atrophy: they are dynamic, and so are we–and so are our husbands! Blessings to you!!!!

Happy Anniversary!
Happy Day to you! PS You do not look like you have aged one bit in 11 years!
Congratulations, on many happy years together, and on many more to come…We celebrated our 25th anniversary this week, and i am convinced time flies..I was a little suprpised we have been married so long, but still have a 3 and 1 year old at home. I get the strangest looks when i go out with my extremely tall handsome 21 year old son and have the 2 babies in tow!!! What a crazy world we live in.
Happy Anniversary!
Late congratulations! I pray you have a year full of as many blessings as your blog has provided your readers!
Happy Anniversary.
I came home Sunday night from a wonderful weekend away with my husband to find your wonderful posts on marriage. How timely and what a blessing to see you posting things that I agree with wholeheartedly. (My honey and I were blessed to be able to go to the beach for two nights. It was the first time since we’ve had kids that we ever went anywhere “fun”. 🙂 It was an amazing blessing to be able to spend time together talking and being with each other. All weekend long I found myself continually thanking God for this wonderful man that He’s given me.)
The timing of your posts was great and I thank you for once again reminding us of the important things to which God has called us.
In His love,
Tina
Happy Anniversary! Your daughter sounds like such a blessing!
My 11th will be this year too. Except I don’t have any pictures that I can share with my blog readers – all of the negatives were lost before processing 🙁
Congratulations
