Happy Birthday (one day late) to my sweet Bria! She was 15 yesterday…hard to believe. We watched videos of her when she was 5 singing her made up songs in over-dramatized fashion, laughing at her childish antics.
She is a gift from God. He has been so gracious to give me a servant through her. I take no credit for her thoughtfulness, her hard work ethic and her desire to serve her Heavenly Father.
She had a rough start with a terrible mom…a mom who still daily fails miserably.
And still He continues to chisel her into a jewel, and I watch in utter amazement at His work.
Bria has never been away from home and tomorrow she leaves with Mrs. Chancey to go to London! I am battling my fears/anxieties, and yet am so excited for this opportunity that she has always dreamed of. (She’s a huge Jane Austen fan 😉
She’ll be helping with the baby as Jennie gets the Jane Austen tour, scheduled for September, arranged.
Y’all pray for me…she is my right hand. I will be temporarily disabled 😉
Love you Sweetie!!!

Kelly,
She’ll have a wonderful time with Jennie! If she had to go with someone other than you, who better than your friend Jennie. Bettie, Jennie’s Mom, showed me some pictures that she took when she was down visiting Jennie. Adorable!
I’ll be praying up here in VA for both of you!
Happy birthday to Bria!:) I know how it is-my 13 year old helps me so much! What a great opportunity. I will be praying for your anxieties/fears. Blessings:) Amanda
God Bless you all.
Just lifted you up in prayer.
I have found that as the years pass and I have gone through growing pains, it’s kind of like as the children grow and have homes of their own that when visiting them a little more growth goes on and as a momma…I am able to turn loose of them even more and more.
The older a momma I get…a process of letting go more and more happens.
God bless,
Deanna
What a great experience for her! I hope her trip is a safe one! I’ll keep her in my prayers.
I know she’ll have a wonderful time and is in good hands. What an experience for her to put in her pocket!
You must be so proud of your lovely daughter. I hope she has a fabulous time in London.
What a fun experience for her!!
You have a beautiful daughter. She looks alot like you (smiles).
I am glad she will get this experience, but remember she’s in the Lord’s hands. Also, I am sure that Jennie will take good care of your daughter. How long will she be in London?
At any rate, I pray that she will return safely to the loving arms of you, your husband, and the rest of her siblings (smiles).
My goodness what an amazing opportunity! I loved visiting London when I was just Bria’s age–and I didn’t have Jennie Chancey taking me on a Jane Austen tour! Do ask her to share some of her photos with us here when she gets back 🙂 (Pretty please, Bria?) Hang in there while she’s gone, Kelly. I’m sure the reunion will be only too sweet for both of you.

Bria’s leaving was a little harder than I thought! I was fine right up until we literally said goodbye after she was in the van. I held composure.
And then, from nowhere, I felt that lump in my throat and I didn’t want to cry in front of everyone. So I smiled and held back.
Then quickly made it inside with the baby and just lost it! I mean sobbing!
But a sweet call from another mother whose 15 year old daughter had gone on a similar trip with Jennie last year cut my crying short–providence! And she laughed and said it was just as it happened with her.
THEN, trouble with their phones prevented any phone calls after they arrived at the airport.
Before I went to bed, I had the most empty, desperate feeling–I had no idea how she was doing on her first flight (she was nervous about flying), I couldn’t tell her goodnight (I’ve NEVER not told her goodnight!), I couldn’t see her, hear her, know anything–it was torture!
But all is well…spoke with her this morning. Although she got separated for a few minutes as they unboarded a train, she is fine.
Really new experience taking me by surprise!
Thanks so much for your well-wishes and prayers!
Hi, one of my church friends told me about your blog this morning. I will enjoy looking through it later.
We are enjoying getting to know Bria and talking with Jennie again.
They are out for the day now but we will do our best to take good care of her while she is staying here.
