I praise the Lord that lately He teaches me more and more of His sovereignty and what that means in my life. Without a full understanding of God’s complete, providential guidance of the universe, we are left only to be fearful and worried with all there is around us.
But study the Scriptures! See that even in Job’s life–that human that endured more suffering than anyone else–even then Satan only had the power which God gave him. And while it was not pleasant for Job, he didn’t have the benefit of seeing his suffering as we do. How marvelous to learn about the character of God and know that we can rest, for His will is perfect and clear for us, even when He allows suffering for a time.
Please be encouraged, dear sister, that we don’t have to fear the enemy, for He is subject to God. And if you are a child of God, nothing can touch you outside of his will.
This quote by Susannah Spurgeon sums it up beautifully:
“When my soul is tossed on the rough waves of the troubled sea of this life, if I can but cast out the anchor of hope into the depths of God’s blessed will, it holds fast at once and the winds and the waves are rebuked…
God’s plans and purposes for me, and for you, dear reader, were all made and determined on from the beginning; and as they are worked out day by day in our lives, how wise should we be if, with joyful certainty, we accepted each unfolding of his will as a proof of his faithfulness and love! When once I, as a believer, can say from my heart, ‘This is the will of God concerning me’, it matters not what the ‘this’ is – whether it be a small domestic worry, or the severance of the dearest earthly ties – the fact that it is his most blessed will, takes all the fierce sting out of the trouble, and leaves it powerless to hurt or hinder the peace of my soul. There is all the difference between the murderous blows of an enemy, and the needful chastisement of a loving father’s hand! The Lord may make us sore, but he will bind us up. He may wound but his hands make whole. “

Thank you for posting this reminder Kelly! My husband and I just watched Obama 2016, and my heart is rather heavy for our country and my children’s future.
God is good and seeking our best even when the refining might be hard and painful. I need to speak this truth to myself every time the enemy might want to steal my joy.
It makes the uncertainty of this world bearable knowing that we serve a faithful, long suffering God that is not wanting even one to perish.
Thanks for this reminder Kelly. I needed to hear it this morning, even though I know that my worries and cares are nothing compared to many others. Anyway, we just left my son at seminary yesterday to start his studies and I’m really missing him this morning!
I hesitate to say this, not intending to take this thread in a different direction, but my heart is burdened today, on this 40th anniversary of abortion being legalized in this country, for all the women and men who are suffering regret over past abortions.
I suspect there are many of us here who know the pain, the sadness and suffering of miscarriage. It’s a very real sorrow to lose a baby, but when the baby dies by our own decision, there is an entirely different dimension that is added to the grief of loss; our own guilt.
I want to spend time today in prayer for those women and men whose babies’ lives ended by their own decision, that they would know that they have a merciful Father in heaven to turn to Who forgives their sins, and brings healing and peace to their troubled lives through Christ.
Please join me in praying today for those suffering from the pain of abortion.
An excellent reminder to us, who go about our day, forgetting the thousands who will have their lives snuffed out. Let me give you a huge bit of encouragement…
“The Alabama Supreme Court has dealt a massive blow to the constitutional fraud of Roe v. Wade by recognizing that the preborn child is a person,” said Personhood USA legal analyst Gualberto Garcia Jones in a statement.
On Jan. 11, the Alabama high court ruled that unborn children are protected by the state’s chemical-endangerment law.”

That IS very encouraging. I hope more states will see the wisdom of that ruling and work to bring about similar results through the legislatures and/or courts. And even more than that, I especially hope that the Lord would continue to work in individual hearts and minds to render abortion unthinkable.
