God’s Design for Women: Titus 2 (A Series by Nancy Leigh Demoss)

by Kelly Crawford

I highly recommend Nancy Leigh Demoss’s God’s Beautiful Design for Women: Living Out Titus 2. It would be a fabulous way to spend some of your weekend. Ladies, I’ve learned that a large part of keeping our footing sure, remaining strong in the battle where an enemy is always at our back, is to keep our minds renewed.

I have only just begun this series and there are no words to describe how she inspires, motivates and just renews my energy as a woman seeking to live a life pleasing to the Lord.

Here is an excerpt from the second clip, “Delighting in Your Children“:

“…if you’re going to have the requisite “1. whatever” children, nobody’s going to bother you too much; but now that you’re expecting your third or your fourth or (heaven forbid!) your fifth or sixth child, don’t you start to get the comments today? And you can get them even within the church.

This is not the heart attitude of Scripture. …Children are essential in God’s plan and program for the propagation of the gospel and the representing of God’s heart and His way in our world. This is not an option. This is not an add-on idea, although many countries of the world are now having children at such a slow rate that they aren’t even replacing their population, and the United States is now approaching that statistic, where we will not even be having enough children to replace our population….

[Jesus] welcomes them, and I see in the heart of Jesus what is to be our heart for children.

So to delight in your children, to love children means, first of all, just the willingness to have children, as God gives them to you and as God directs in that way. That is a very counter-cultural way of thinking today.

It may be very foreign to you, and you may be wondering if I’ve lost my mind by talking this way. But I want to encourage you to go to the Scripture and ask, “What does Scripture have to say about children?” -Nancy Leigh Demoss

This is a somewhat of a side issue, but there is good news on a higher birthrate in the UK and some other European countries. A very recent Wall Street Journal article noted that the UK recorded the highest number of births in 2012 in 40 years and very close to this in 2011. There is also an uptick in babies born in some of the Nordic countries in 2012 as well. Of course, this is far too early to make a trend but it’s the first positive news about increased fertility in Europe that I’ve ever heard about. If you want the reference, I’ll be glad to provide it. (I read it online through our public library’s web portal but didn’t write down the reference.)
