Feminism Re-post

by Kelly Crawford

I’m going to try my hand at a new approach. Since the mix up over what I was actually addressing in the post “Feminism…Throwing Logic Out the Window“, I thought it might be better to leave humans out of it altogether. Even when posting about an anonymous person, it can come across too harsh. The fact that I was, indeed addressing only a mindset, and not a particular person, is demonstrated in the ease of changing characters.

Sooo…here’s my re-post over what was really bugging me when I read the article–no real people involved. Hopefully the characters only stand to reinforce the absurdity of our human logic.

“Breaking news today…Henrietta the hen on strike from nest-sitting. She said that Farmer Brown had expressed his delight with her efficiency as a back-scratcher, and besides, he’s paying her 3 corn cobs a day to do it! ‘Why would I do anything else?’ Henrietta said.

Critics are concerned about the little ones she leaves behind. Henrietta, apparently irritated at the responses, replied, “Why does everyone assume that I am the only one capable of sitting on eggs? Mr. Rooster has just as many feathers as I do…why isn’t anyone upset that he’s not sittin’ on ’em? I also have a neighbor who is good at it…she can fill in too.”

We asked Farmer Brown what he thought of the abandoning of the little chicks: “Well, no one can deny the impeccable job of back-scratching Henrietta does. Only my wife does it as well. I would hate to lose her services. I agree that Mr. Rooster is probably just as good a nest-sitter. Or anyone else for that matter.”

So, the powerful poultry diva, Henrietta, stands as a champion to hens everywhere…we salute you with a CLUCK.”

I read the comments on the post that this is a revision of. I hope you don’t let them stop you or make you write every post with barnyard equivalants. Geesh.

I don’t see what was so bad about your last post.

Oh my, Kelly, did we really make you feel like you needed to repost? Clever, little twist…point made, again.

I’m new at posting here, but not at reading. I have thoroughly enjoyed so many of your writings. I am grateful for all who put their reputations and their hearts on the line to make people aware of certain things…causing us all to think–comments and all. It is a great chisel!

BUT, I do not believe the not-quite-so-positive comments are “persecution” nor do I believe they led to your repost.

You post…we read. I can guarantee we all read them a little differently and interpret the words accordingly.

Let us not injure one another with words, though. We are the body of Christ. To God be the glory!

Blessings!
