Elohim…Creator….the first name given to God in the Bible.
We all know we were “created in His image”. We agree then, that we are “image-bearers”. Have you pondered that? What part of His image do we bear? We’ve all thought of being an image-bearer as His created one, but aren’t we image-bearers of the Creator Himself?
Big implications! Our Creator spoke, and as each of His creations burst forth into life He said…”It is good.”
He has given us the ability to bring forth life–to be a vital part in the miracle of creating! How’s that for bearing the Creator’s image? For being the instrument through which the mystery of life is spoken and comes forth!
And if we are to reflect it properly, what do we say about this life that bursts forth from us? “It is good”? Or “not again”!
What are we saying about our Creator-image-bearing as we refuse to take part in this glorious creating of bringing forth new life?
He is sovereign…do we reflect that in our image-bearing? He speaks, and creation obeys…do we?
What a privilege to share in this kind of image-bearing of our Creator! And the people said…”It is good.”
(Thank you, Darby, for this insightful thought…)

Darby as in John Nelson?? Just curious as I am part of what is called “Plymouth Brethren” started by Darby in the 1800’s. I thought “we” were the only ones who knew about or read his books! 🙂
Beautiful and wonderful to remember as i walk through this privilege! Darby, as always, wise beyond words:) thank you for this today! Blessings, jen in al
Laura,
No, not that Darby 😉 I’ll have to look that up, though!
So true, and if we all could realize this it would help our self image (and our view of children)!
By the way… I tried your fudge recipe. THANK YOU! My husband loves it, and I was also able to make some for my pastor and assistant pastors at church. I don’t have to tell them it was that easy do I?
hee hee
Bought the ingredients to make that fudge, and I’ll get around to it one of these days.
Your posts have given me so much to think about. Except for one pastor who told all of us that children were God’s greatest gift (but only 2 or 3 of them), I have NEVER heard of them described as blessings, and I’m 55 years old and have been in church practically al of my life.
No, rather, children were always described as “mouths to feed” and in other terms like that — in other words, drains on a family, annoyances, something to have in order to “get it out of the way” so that you have done your duty and so that you’re not completely childless, etc.
I think that that is the Western way of looking at children. Sad.
