The Mother-heart Knows No Bounds

by Kelly Crawford

I once thought mother-love had bounds–that a heart could be filled up,
Until my second child was born, and my love was just as much.

But that was it, I was convinced, there’s little room to spare,
And then my daughter came along and found more room in there!

Surely three would be the max, my heart could hold no more–
Astonished when I found myself in love with number four!

And then I knew–God made the mother-heart a boundless place,
Fertile with a living love growing with new grace.

I never would have dreamed that number eight could be so sweet,
You’d think by now there’d be no thrill in touching tiny feet.

But oh the mystery of it all! It’s like the very first time,
Children are the endless joys that make this life sublime.

I JUST today blogged about MY newest addition that was born around the time of your little Ellia. He is my 11th and it is so true that a mother’s heart has NO limits on love! God is soooo good!
Thanks for sharing your sweet baby pics! She is a sight to behold!
Blessings to you!

What a beautiful post! I remember crying to my mother that there was no way I could love another child as much as I loved my first – that was until my 2nd was born! Your baby is adorable!

Kelly, She is so beautiful! But where did this baby come from?! LOL She does not look like any of your other babies! When I saw the post, I thought oh how cute…who’s baby is this? Not even thinking that it could be yours! I hope you are all doing great! Miss you!

Susan,

Is it not amazing? Everyone asks that same question! I should post a baby picture of Bria…they look identical.

Ahhh, I didn’t know you when Bria was a baby, so it’s good to know that Ellia will probably favor beautiful Bria! 😉 Hope your hubby has fully recovered! (saw your Mom the other day and got a quick update!)

Ohhhhh….. I want another baby so badly… Folks keep telling me that eventually I will be happy to not have the “trouble” of any more little ones. But I’m thinking, if it hasn’t happened already it’s not likely to happen ever, lol.;)

Love and enjoy those sweet tiny toes… I know you do:)

I love this. I am 4 months along with #4 and I feel like I am having my first. I am so excited to see this new little face and to hold the blessing the good Lord has given me! Great poem.

Wow, this is a touching poem. It is amazing how much love there is to go around. I was just telling someone the other day about how my 4th baby’s firsts(teeth, crawl, smile, etc) are just as exciting as they were with my firstborn. It’s amazing.

Beautiful. 🙂 And so true.

Our third child was the one God used to truly soften my husband’s heart towards his sons, and get over some of the issues from his past. We needed that third child just as much as we wanted the first, and God knew it. 🙂 They are all so different and so loveable and I am hopeful God will give us many more new little people to love.

This was precious and so true. I am expecting #6. My grandmother, when she was 70 and I was expecting #3, told me that even as old as she was she still would love to have another little baby to hold. She told me that you never grow too old to want more children. I thought that was the sweetest thing. Ellia is beautiful!

Oh, this is so true! We are expecting #4 in early April and I am GIDDY just thinking about it! I cannot wait to hold, snuggle, kiss, and (gently) squeeze my new precious baby! I truly don’t get it when people say they don’t want another one…how could you not???

Ellia is beautiful! Just precious!!!

Kelly,
*smile*
You know that we’re absolutely in love with our new number five.
I guess our second youngest (3yo) sums up our amazement “We get to keep her, right Mommy??”
God is Good!!!

Little Ellia is absolutely beautiful.
From the looks of it, it seems like she is on her way to having a lovely, thick head of hair!!
One other thing, wouldn’t it be neat to know what these little people are thinking (looking at that bottom photo in particular).
