It’s all about perspective. It’s where you have your eyes.
The feminist’s call to women has one message : “IT’S ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT.”
The Lord’s call to women (and men) is a diametrically opposed message: “IT’S ALL ABOUT OTHERS.”
The reason women (even Christian ones) have such a hard time swallowing the idea of “being at home”, is because they are looking at that role through what it can do for ME. The entire look of it changes when we stop looking at ourselves and our desires, and look to see how our lives are best arranged to meet the needs of others.
Yes, it’s a dying-to-self operation…a narrow road…and “few there be that find it”.
The reason I champion the role of women in the home so passionately, is because so many others need her. Her husband and children, of course first. But then there is the lonely neighbor, the hurting friend, the lost relative, the elderly parent, the new mother, the traveling missionaries…and the list goes on.
We need women devoted to “home”, not in the sense of only her four walls and the work that requires, but to be available to meet the numerous needs of people around her.
There is never enough time to do it all; how could we presume to take care of the minutest of our duties if we are given to a career apart from our family? Much less the call of the others in need?
You want to see a revival? Churches spend time and money on better evangelical tools to win the lost.
They don’t have to do that. If they would start teaching their families about ministry–real, live, others-first ministry, no hype, just thoughtfulness, time and energy, as one family reaches out to those around them…and the accompanying role of “keepers at home” that the level of that ministry requires, the world would sit up and take notice…
because the love of Christ would come and take flesh and dwell among them again.

So very, very true! No Christian is able to minister as much as the homemaker is. Husbands are busy with outside careers and responsibilities, whereas the homemaker has been blessed by God with more time and opportunity to make a radical difference in the world.
I look forward to the coming interview! I’ve never heard of this young lady; does she have a blog? I would love to get to know her.
Once again—- you’ve spoken truth, oh so well!!!
Blessing to you!
