My Prayer for Warrior Mothers…
“You are on the front lines…” my dear friend said to me as I sat crying softly beside her. Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Inadequate? I do. But as I’ve said so often, it is His grace that allows us to constantly see our weaknesses; otherwise, we would never look to Him to be our Strength.
When people say to me, “I don’t know how you do it”, I often say back, “I don’t.” And I meant it sincerely. And shame on us for shrinking back from a task just because we have determined that we can’t handle it. Of course we can’t! We’re not supposed to. At the moment we think we are able in our own strength, we become useless for the Kingdom.
My prayer for all of you is my prayer for myself. Cry if you need to cry. And then run to Him Who is ready to give you rest.
“My Father, give us a sturdiness of mind and heart for the many tasks ahead.
May we speak with the law of kindness on our tongues.
Make us helpers, suitable for our husbands–forgetting our selfish wants, and truly looking to lighten his load.
May we be a crown to him, and not rottenness in his bones.
Give us strength of body to build this house and not tear it down.
Adorn us with the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit.
Make us long suffering toward our husbands and children, not easily provoked and not easily provoking to anger.
Give us energy and vision to “watch over the affairs of our households”, seeing it through Your eyes…a mission field, and a battleground to be won for You.
Help us speak with wisdom.
Help us to be busy with our hands, faithful with our time, and productive in our work.
Give us stamina for the day, helping us see that all the little things are not really little in Your economy.
May we be encouraged in the trenches and know that “greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”.
When we are tired, give us rest; when we are irritable, give us grace; when we are grumpy give us gratitude; and when we are spent, carry us on from there.
Losing my life to save it…

Amen and amen.
I will be printing this prayer out and on the refrigerator it goes! :0)
When I can’t seem to pray for myself in the midst of the battles, what a treasure to have a prayer ready to help focus me as I cry out to HIM for strength and guidance!
Kelly – Praise God for precious friends who we can cry with and who pray for us and encourage us. The Lord has given me a jewel, my friend Rina. It really helps me that she has a large family also because I was always afraid to tell my struggles to friends with small families or my mom because I always envisioned them thinking, “Then stop having all those kids!” Its not that I want my life any different – its just HARD sometimes and boy, does it help just knowing Rina is out there fighting the same fight. Your prayer was so encouraging – I agree with Leslie – I will be printing this one to pray during those tough times that WILL come!!
Amen! Thanks for praying for us and with us.
Printing this out to read and re-read in the days ahead. Thank you, Kelly!
What a lovely reminder of what our potential (with out Lord’s help!) can be. Thanks so much for sharing this. 🙂
Once again, thank you for the encouragement.
Some days are very difficult, if not for our Lord!!
Blessings~
I need to be reminded so often why I do this! It is not for me but for Him who carries me! Thank you!
I’m crying right now reading this. I needed this so much today. Being 9 months pregnant with only little ones around to “help” I feel so unable to accomplish all I need to do. Thank you for the reminder that I can’t do anything without the help of our Lord!
Thank you, Kelly! I SOOOO need this right now. I’m newly pregnany with #4 (and we are THRILLED) but I admit, it’s HARD. It’s hard being nauseous all day, it’s hard having three other little ones to care for, it’s hard to be motivated to actually DO anything each day. BUT, as you reminded us, it’s only hard when we try to do it in our own strength. Thank you for your very timely words of wisdom. I’ll be printing this out too!!!
Ditto….except where you said, “crying softly” I would have to replace with “sobbing loudly.” Thanks for the encouragement and reminder — we are all in the battle together and should remember to “encourage one another while it is called Today.”
Oh, Kelly, I’m going to print this out for those times when I can’t even put into words what I want to say: this pretty much says it all!
Oh Kelly, This prayer is so wonderful, so powerful. I need a gentle spirit. The Lord told me a year ago to start praying for it. How do you grow a gentle spirit. When all my life I have been around people who are irritable, coarse, rude and grumpy. I do not want to teach this to my children. Please pray for me.
Beautiful! Thank you so much. This was EXACTLY what I needed to read today.
