“The self-proclaimed feminist authors claim that feminism has made a mess of male/female relationships. “Feminism teaches women that they are equal to men, but when it comes to love, romance, attraction, and chemistry – men don’t fall in love with a woman because she is an equal. Men fall in love with women who are their compliment: feminine, loving and appreciative.”
Gotta love it! Turns out the Bible is right after all, we just have different motives for following its principles.

I would say the author nailed it. I have begun to stop more and more often to check my pulse… intentionally ask God to reveal my motives. More times than I care to admit, I really need a tune up. When I read the writings of Paul I am brought to tears. He understood what it meant to do EVERYTHING to the glory of God.
Thanks for posting.
She’s STILL his equal, though.
Yes she is. Those who hold to a biblical view of roles have always maintained that they are equal–that’s never been an issue for discussion. It’s in the definition of “equal” that things get skewed. Equal doesn’t mean “same”.
I appreciate the clarity with which Catholic writers express this, from Pope John Paul II, soon to be beatified, all the way down to Catholic bloggers familiar with the Church’s teachings.
God created man in his image (man meaning mankind here), male and female he created them. Therefore, male and female are both created in the image of God (imago Dei) and are both equal in dignity. However, they are not the same. God clearly created men and women to complement one another. Our femininity goes soul-deep. Our gender is far more than our physicality, although that does form a large part of how we interact with the world.
I am working my way through Pope JPII’s “On the Dignity of Women” (Mulierus Dignitatem), and it is amazing stuff that encourages women to understand God’s purpose and the female role in marriage and society. It has helped me so much, because in the “Christian” home in which I was brought up, I was told women were not made in the image of God, but that they were just made to serve and please men. My parents reduced the biblical teaching of “helpmate” to a mere plaything with a kinda-sorta-eternal soul. My conversion to Catholicism helped me to overcome this grave error in teaching. I have been so thankful to find people like you Kelly, who speak for the other groups in Christendom who teach the same things about roles for women, biblical femininity, and joyfully serving as a sister in Christ and child of God. Thank you for helping me to see all the other Christians out there spreading the true Gospel!
I know it’s never been a question for you, Kelly. It’s this line ““Feminism teaches women that they are equal to men, but when it comes to love, romance, attraction, and chemistry – men don’t fall in love with a woman because she is an equal”” that my words were responding to.
Randi, great post!
Gotcha 😉 I’ll make a complementarian out of you yet ;-P
I think this is the only time in history that separate but equal is true. We are not the same in most ways. That is why marriages were designed by God. To compliment each other.
I really like this quote!
Great article! Thanks for linking to it.
