As the topic of the UN Treaty of the Convention on the Rights of the Child is in the forefront of discussion, I found this quote, from the Preamble, so very ironic:
“Bearing in mind that, as indicated in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, “the child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth.”
Does anyone catch the irony?

Before birth? Did they even read this?
“appropriate legal protection, before… birth”. I think this may be the first time I’ve ever agreed with the U.N. Too bad so much of the rest of the CRC needs revising to say the very least.
I’m at a very liberal college campus (boo), and I assure you, ‘they’ are full of ironies.

Not only did I catch the “before birth” part, but also this is about a child’s rights…BUT they need care and legal protection to tell them what rights they have…isn’t that what parents are for!? Do our children really want a lawyer telling them what they need or want? Because they no so much better than the parents, yes? All this is is their way of taking all control out of parents’ hands and putting it into the states hands…ridiculous and frightening!
grrr… I was thinking about this yesterday!
Sounds like some individuals are two tacos short of a combination platter.
