If the Foundations are Destroyed

by Kelly Crawford

The most devastating and terrifying trend has crept into the body of Christ.

It is the war on truth, and the distortion of God’s grace.

Please read this post carefully and consider deeply…if we don’t get this right, nothing else matters.

Truth.

What is it?

Does it even exist?

Is it the same for everyone?

There is a new message sweeping the church…a message that says, “Come as you are, and stay as you are”…and it is idolatry.

And if you argue against it, you’re called a legalist, or “self-righteous”, or a Pharisee.

It is so subtle, and it is deadly.

It is a gospel being “harmlessly” diguised in wolves’ clothing.

It is heresy.

I guess the real problem is that no one seems to agree on what “truth” is. But ultimately, we can trace it back to a dissolving of foundational truth–of God and His infallilbe Word.

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3

We began to see the evidence of the blurring of truth in the secular world in the public school system, as God and His Word were slowly removed.

What followed was a curriculum based on man’s wisdom, which is fastly becoming a curriculum of humanism and the “worship of me”. Idolatry. In a nutshell, there is no God, therefore no Creator, therefore no standard of right and wrong for humanity. I decide what is best for me.

Now, we have children who are grown-up prodigies of that Godless education, who are leading and teaching the next generation–even within the church.

So it only makes sense that children who are saturated with an education void of absolute truth, would grow up to disassemble the foundations on which the church of God has always stood.

In school they teach our children “open-mindedness”. That kind that precludes any belief that a cerain lifestyle or choice of behavior is wrong. Which means that if you believe homosexuality is a sin, you’re a bigot, an idiot, and guilty of harboring hateful prejudices.

In school, they teach our children that truth does not exist….and then claim that this new philosophy is the TRUTH!

How can a child tolerate an entire life of humanistic brain-washing, and remain champions for the truth? A few will make it relatively unscathed, but not many. The change may be subtle, and for most WILL be subtle, and therein lies the real danger!!!

Christianity is synonomous with bigotry and prejudice. It is being attacked like never before. They want our children….Christian children. Because if they can erode the foundations of truth in their minds, they will raise a new generation of people. More dangerous than pagans. A generation of people who profess godliness with their mouths, but deny the power of Him they profess. God is near to their mouths, but far from their hearts.

These are the enemy. The sheep in wolves clothing we were warned about.

More to come..

I’m hearing the voice of the Lord in Jeremiah’s day…listen closely, you can hear Him too…ponder these words of God in your heart..

“What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, have followed idols, and have become idolaers?” Jeremiah 2:5

“For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns–broken cisterns that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:13

“Know therefore, and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken the Lord your God, and the fear of Me is not in you,” says the Lord God of hosts….Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘you gave birth to me.’ “ (Is this not the same evolution our schools are still teaching?)

” ‘Stand and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.’ But they said ‘We will not walk in it.’…Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people–the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not heeded my words nor My law, but rejected it.” Jeremiah 6:16-19

“They hold fast to deceit, they refuse to return….they do not speak aright…….How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’?…Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; so what wisdom do they have?…Everyone is given to covetousness…” Jeremiah 8:5-10

How many times are we told, by other believers, “God gives us wisdom to make this and that decision”, even when those decisions are contrary to what Scripture teaches? Careful! That “wisdom”, the wisdom of man is idolatry, and is just a pagan’s excuse cloaked in a spirtual disguise. And it is what God unleashed His fury against. And it is what we will stand in judgement for as well.

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom…but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.”
Jeremiah 9:23-24

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength….blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord.” 17:5-7

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and despeately wicked; who can know it?” 17:9

(How does this hold up against the sweet-sounding “just follow your heart!”–Another catch phrase for the “new religion” being taught to our children.)

Your statement about the dangers of subtle change reminded me of what Pastor Adrian Rogers once said. I can’t quote him exactly but he made the comparison to a watch running 5 or 10 minutes late. It’s a subtle difference from the “true” time. A difference that one could easily overlook. Also, a difference that could cause tremendous trouble! (a flight to catch, etc.) He then added that Satan uses subtlety such as this because most Christians could easily spot the inaccuracy of a watch that was 1 or 2 hours behind but may miss the “small lie” of being 5 or 10 minutes off. May we all stay alert, checking our “watches” with God’s Word.

Thanks so much for writing. You are faithfully using you gift!

One thing I find disturbing is the twisting of language… I find it almost difficult to have a discussion on issues when the terms keep shifting.

Recently I’ve been talking about “toleration” on my blog, and it doesn’t really mean “toleration” any more, does it?

It seems one is constantly on the defense. I’ve been called a bigot, a racist and a hateful anti-homosexual because I tell people that I feel a certain way about certain issues on my blog.

I know that I can make mistakes in interpreting events or what the Biblical response to them should be. But I think we have to keep going back to what we feel JESUS would do and let the chips fall where they may.

“follow your heart”
my youth pastor husband has preached to the youth group several times on how this advice is totally anti-biblical
“the heart is deceitful above all things and desparately wicked; who can know it?”

You are right, Kelly. The gospel of Oprah has slowly infiltrated even our churches. “Follow your own truth”. It IS scary! You know, the further the world slides down into the moral sewer, the more strange it will look to truly follow the Lord. Sadly, it seems many Christians are so concerned about their general appearance in comparison to the lost world that they modify their beliefs accordingly! This is so not acceptable that it’s not even funny. I personally must watch myself…my heart is as the wickedest among them.

Mrs. C, I know what you mean. The word “tolerant” is basically a sacred term of the pagan culture at large. What is so absurd is that these “tolerant” folks will spew venemous, hatred filled anger towards anyone who does not agree with their program. They tolerate anyone except Christians, and that you can bet on.

Anon,

I would love to know exactly what you are referring to as “the hatred you are pouring out”…I can’t address a random comment such as that, without understanding what you see as “hatred”?

We are on a very slippery slope right now. Everyday there is more and more compromise on what truth is. To follow one’s own truth is not Biblical. Only God is truth everything else is just dung.
The foundation of truth is solid but if we add sand to the truth the foundation is no longer solid it is softened. The more sand the softer the foundation and the less structurally sound is our “house.”
I am very much a black and white person. Sin is sin no mater what.
Speaking truth about sin is not hatred. Tolerance for sin is unacceptable, God doesn’t accept sin. He turned His back on His own Son when Jesus became sin for US.

It almost seems that second anonymous proves your point, Kelly.
I appreciated your post. Sometimes the truth hurts, to the very core. Oftentimes, those who claim Christians are hateful, are themselves spewing venom – but, only toward Christianity.

Outstanding post!! Amen a hundred times! 🙂

So much of the problems in our society, schools, etc. comes as a direct or indirect result of feminism.

The Church is to be influencing the culture-not the culture influencing the Church!! To love the world and the things thereof is to hate God. When Christians and so-called “Christians” disobey God’s Word and instead follow the world, that is a slap in the face of God Almighty. These people must be warned: God does and will punish disobedience. He will severely punish those who profess to be Christians but are instead living just as the world does. This is a serious sin.

People today are trying to change God’s Word to fit the culture’s teachings. But it’s high time we change the culture and our lives to fit God’s Word!

You truly are a WONDERFUL person, Kelly, and don’t ever let anyone else tell you otherwise, dear sister! 🙂

You know, with all this talk on hatred, intolerance is not hatred! Rather, true hatred is not telling these sinners that they’re sinning; if we tolerate their actions and tell them that they’re A OK, we’re keeping the truth from these people, and they will therefore be heading straight to Hell. It’s loving to be intolerant. It’s hateful to be tolerant.

I need time to digest all of these posts (I read them backwards!).

You have put into words what I have been feeling for so long. And living in (at church).

Thanks for speaking boldly.
