Coconut Song Inspires Chores!

by Kelly Crawford

This won’t be as funny to write as it really was…I should have taken a video.
The coconut song was a big hit when I added it to the blog post this morning.
So you have to picture, I’m on the couch, sick today (cold/flu junk). My sweet, incredible husband brought me french toast and coffee to bed this morning too-don’t want to miss that plug!
Anyway, he gave the children their chores, special instructions to help me, and ordered me to do “nothing” but sit on the couch. (Oh, but honey, please let me mop the floors!) (I hope I get old before he does…he’s a much better care-taker than I!)
As soon as the coconut song started playing from my lap top, the kids instantaneously added dancing to their chores.

The funniest was my normally quiet, somber Alexa. She’s mopping across the room, minding her own business, and I look up to see her, mop overhead, bobbing up and down in a rhythmic motion, grinning her toothless grin from ear to ear. It was priceless!
Then my son comes up (he’s got some mo-town gene???) but for this song broke into a “walk like an Egyptian” dance.

Go ahead, you know you want to break out in song…”Pickin’ coconuts from the coconut tree…nanna nah”!

So from now on, “The Coconut Song” is the official chore song.

When I was little, my friends’ mom made them sing “Yo-Ho-Heave-Ho” while they did their chores. I felt sorry for them. I think the coconut song would have been a great improvement over that!

I love putting on get-up-and-move music on when we clean out. It really puts us in the mood!

Very fun!

Oh, and I hope you feel better very soon!!
