A middle school in Portland, Maine passed a proposal to allow the dispension of birth control pills to kids ranging in age from 11-14 at the local Middle School.
I’m almost speechless, except it makes me so angry I cannot remain silent! Of course you know the argument…”kids are going to have sex..better that they don’t get pregnant in the process.”
Consider this quote from one of the school’s nurses:
“It will provide a means of making sure you don’t get pregnant and ruin your school career, and limit yourself in the future.”
Did you get that? Children losing their virginity, living with a complete disregard for moral purity isn’t going to affect them…isn’t going to “limit them in the future”…are you believing that?
By the way, the parents DO NOT have to be notified!!!
Amy cleverly paralleled this line of thinking: why not dispense clean hypodermic needles for those kids who are “just going to use heroin anyway”?

None of us remembers, but once there was a society of people, Christian and non-Christian alike, who would have stood at these “gates of hell” in protest for their children and the value of the family…how did we get here?

But somehow, if I served your child alcohol at a party, you could sue me for whoppin’ bucks!! It’s just so inconsistent. I mean, if you’re going to go whole hog and “let the kids decide,” you may as well be a total hedonist about it…
Time to pass out the Playboys to the kindergarteners. Just don’t tell Mom. (eyeroll)
That is just sickening. Very hard to believe although I’m not surprised at the same time.
I was wondering, how many pages is your ebook on child training? I find quick reads are the most helpful to me, so wanted to make sure it wasn’t a whopper 🙂
Thanks,

I live in Maine, so this is too close to home for my liking. Being a Mainer, I just had to post about this on my blog too. http://atime4everythingblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/ever-sinking-culture-children-being.html
They crack down on alcohol because drunk driving kills, but it is ok to give birth control that we know aborts fetuses and the morning after pill also. I am sure there are tears in heaven today.
I have been wondering how that sweet little baby of yours is doing? It would be refreshing to hear with all this heavy news this week 🙂
Stephanie,
You are so sweet to ask about Kyla! She is doing SUPER! (I have to wake her up at night if I want to feed her!)
I was waiting for my friend/photographer to come and snap some new pictues, and then I’ll post them on the blog…
But we are just loving every minute of her sweet little life!
(All the children are enamored…they just can’t get enough kisses!)
I saw this story. SO disturbing, and of course, all funded by the parent’s and community tax dollars. I can’t believe they can mess with the health of children and not inform parents. If you want control over the well-being of your children, don’t send them to government schools.
Somewhere in the article it even says that condoms have been available to the kids since 2002. If that’s not “doing the trick” or achieving whatever result they are expecting, what makes them think offering birth control pills will be any different?
This is just SO incredibly sad. The fact is, Planned Parenthood has been doing this for a long time. No parental consent is required to pass out BCPs to minors. I can imagine what this does for pedophiles. Helps them cover up the crime, that’s for sure.
It also upsets me that an 11 year-old girl can’t even get a Tylenol in school, yet she can get high levels of prescription hormones without her parents knowing.
This is a HUGE argument for homeschooling.
In regards to your “hypodermic needle/heroin comment, there are reports out of San Francisco that the city wants to set up a safe house for all addicts where they can come and a nurse will help ensure that they shoot up “right”. They want to reduce the number of overdoses and in order to do so they feel they need a safehouse where they can shoot up “clean”. Apparently they are doing this right now in a city in British Columbia. Unbelievable.
Well said Kelly. I also liked your point that it used to be that Christian or non-Christian used to stand against this sort of thing. I wonder what has happened? Sometimes even Christians don’t stand up against this sort of stuff.
Wait a minute… 11 year olds? Most eleven year olds haven’t even started their period yet!
And what about the effects of all these hormones on the bodies of these children still developing! There could, and likely will, be lifelong consequences for these preteens!
