Always looking for creative craft ideas, this one was a hit with my children. It was easy enough for my nine-year-old to orchestrate (with a little oversight while ironing) and all the kids got to participate.
Here’s how we did it:
- Buy sandpaper (medium grain is what we used) and cut it into pieces for each child to draw himself (or other picture) with crayons (better quality crayons work best).
- Place the drawing face-down on fabric (bag, apron, t-shirt, etc.) and iron to transfer crayon drawing.
- If you use words, remember to write them backwards.
Note: Some of the words didn’t transfer well so we just drew directly onto the bag.
That’s it!

Hello Kelly! Here’s a fun and easy craft for kids!
Take some paper (plain or colored). Trim into a square. Fold into a “fortune teller” as shown below or on other sites. (Ignore the fortune teller part- I don’t believe in them either). Instead of decorating as a fortune teller, decorate with the faces of animals, people, whatever! You’ll have a very cheap and unlimited supply of paper puppets for the kids to play with, as varied as their imaginations! My kids love making animals of different sizes and then making a “zoo” to play with them. This would also work well with characters to act out stories or Bible passages.

Can you wash whatever you iron it onto?
I’m not sure! We just made this and gave it to my mom…I’m sure you could do a quick search and probably find out.
That is really great! Lots of ideas now buzzing around in my head!
Thank you for this neat idea! I’ve been racking my brain lately coming up with fun indoor activites to do with my littes to avoid this terrible southern heat! This will be added to our list of planned activites for the upcoming week. 🙂
Cute idea! Thanks. It’s also cheaper than the “Thirty One” Tote that only has enough space for six kids! What’s up with that??? : )
Thanks for the good writeup. It in reality used to be a enjoyment account it. Glance complicated to more brought agreeable from you! However, how could we be in contact?
