By the way, I wanted to mention a book we are reading as a family (my oldest has read it too)…Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends. This book is so excellent! Written by a group of siblings, it is fun and inspiring to my children because it meets them where they are. Filled with humorous stories and heart-warming anecdotes, it also provides really practical “how to’s” for siblings trying to improve relationships.

We are reading it now. Two years ago we were able to meet the sisters at a convention. Sweet, beautiful girls. My little girls were in awe of them. I was so excited that my girls had someone so lovely to look up to.

Hi Kelly: I tried to read it several times and in fact read it many chapters and did not really glean much from it and thought it was juvenile. I even passed it on b/c it didn’t do much for me personally. But probably reading it to the kids is a good idea. I can see where the tone might suit them better. 🙂

Yes, I probably didn’t emphasize in the post that is written for children.
I bought it recently but haven’t read it to my boys yet. It looks like a really good thing for them and I am looking forward to digging in!

We read it as a family and enjoyed it tremendously. We have referred back to it numerous times.
A little “spat” developed into a big chasm for my 14 and 11 year old children. My son, who is the 14 year old, decided on his own to reread the book. On Valentine’s Day, he made 2 ATTACH notebooks and gave one to his sister. He hugged her and reminded her that she was his best friend. Anna cried and hugged her brother so tightly. They often climb into the apple tree and share their notebooks together.
Our family has benefited greatly from this book.
